People's Law takes on some Legal Aid resources

February 29, 2024

VANCOUVER unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) homelands — People’s Law School and Legal Aid BC announce a significant step in our ongoing commitment to provide accessible legal resources to British Columbians. Effective immediately, People's Law takes over publishing essential information on welfare benefits, mortgage default, and sponsorship breakdown, formerly managed by Legal Aid BC. This shift underscores our commitment to empowering individuals with knowledge and tools for navigating complex legal landscapes.

To ensure a seamless transition and understand community needs, People's Law will consult with organizations currently using these resources. We value frontline insights to shape the future of these resources, making them more accessible, user-friendly, and tailored to diverse needs. The new resources will be available in both print and digital formats later in 2024. Until then, Legal Aid will continue to make available its current resources on its website.

Our dedication to fostering legal empowerment and education is exemplified in this transition. We eagerly anticipate the positive changes ahead, believing that together with you, we can enhance the accessibility and impact of these vital legal resources.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
